Three members of Turkey's security forces were killed in two terror attacks in the country's southeast on Friday, officials said.

The operation has been ongoing in the Sur district, currently under curfew. PKK terrorists reportedly detonated explosives, killing one police officer and wounding another, security sources said. A soldier was also injured. Meanwhile, one police officer was also killed and five others were injured in Cizre district of Şırnak province on Friday.

One of the soldiers injured in the Sur attack passed away in hospital, the Turkish General Staff said in a statement. The four injured troops are not in a critical condition and are receiving treatment.

Twelve PKK terrorists have also been killed in the Cizre district of Şırnak province on Thursday, the Turkish General Staff announced. It brought the total number of PKK killings to 173 in the district.

Meanwhile, six suspects - accused of aiding the terror organization PKK - have been detained in the southeastern Mardin and Hakkari provinces.

During the anti-terror raids in the Silopi district of Şırnak, 600 kg of ammonium nitrate used for preparing explosives, four rifles, and one gun were seized, security sources said, while 55 barricades were lifted and 11 ditches closed.

The government has intensified its counterterrorism operations following the recent attacks carried out by the PKK, which is recognized as a terrorist organization by the U.S., the EU and Turkey. Formed in 1978, the terrorist group has been fighting the government for an independent state since the early 2000's. The group then shifted its goal to autonomy in predominately Kurdish inhabited regions of Turkey. The PKK announced on July 11 that the cease-fire that was declared via a message from the PKK's imprisoned leader Abdullah Öcalan in 2013 has ended.

A total of 240 PKK terrorists have been killed in counter-terrorism operations in southeastern Turkey since Dec. 15, according to the Turkish General Staff.

According to a statement on Turkish Armed Forces' official website, most of the casualties took place in the Cizre and Silopi districts of Sirnak province and in Diyarbakır's Sur district.

Out of the 228 terrorists, 173 were killed in Cizre and 22 others in Silopi, while 45 more were killed in Sur.
