Following the ruling Justice and Development Party's (AK Party) historic extraordinary congress where President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was re-elected as its chairman on Sunday, the party entered in to a revision period in which the new Central Executive Board (MYK) members are to be determined this week, along with a possible reshuffling of the Cabinet.
Meanwhile, Parliament is also busy with a number of items on its list, including the introduction of several draft bills. With President Erdoğan becoming AK Party chairman, the Cabinet, as well as the party's administration and the AK Party's parliamentary group administration, are to be reshaped.
On that note, the AK Party's weekly parliamentary group meeting is to be held tomorrow rather than today, and it is to be closed for the media members. However, sources close to the AK Party have noted that Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım is to be re-elected as the AK Party's parliamentary group head. Through the recent amendments made on Sunday to the party's bylaws, Prime Minister Yıldırım is set to become the party's second-in-command by becoming vice chairman. Furthermore, the AK Party meeting tomorrow will also determine the parliamentary deputy heads and group administration. It is expected that President Erdoğan is to convene with the Central Decision and Executive Board (MKYK) this week, following his return from the NATO Summit in Brussels, to determine its members.
Along with changes to the party, Parliament is to convene with a busy agenda regarding discussions on the draft bill supporting industry and production. The commission on industry, trade, energy, natural sources, information and technology are to meet today regarding possible amendments to be made on some of the laws.
