Minister of Culture and Tourism Ertuğrul Günay has recently announced that Turkey is now the top fourth nation in Europe in terms of number of tourists visited.
Minister Günay made the announcement from the Bayburt Governors Office during a trip to Bayburt to visit the Baksı Museum.
"More tourists now come to Turkey than they do to England," states Günay, "We had dreams. We always wanted to surpass England, and now we have succeeded. Our intentions are to draw tourists to all of Turkey and not just Antalya. We have a Yeşilyol (Green road) project, which will connect all tableland tourism spanning from Artvin to Samsun. A tourist who arrives to the Black Sea port will now be able to travel through all of the rural regions of Artvin, Trabzon, Rize, Gümüşhane, Samsun and Sinop by highway.
