Turkish Airlines announced on Tuesday that it has cancelled 208 domestic and international flights, as the major blizzard continues to paralyze life in parts of Turkey.
The National General Meteorology Directorate said that snowfall would continue intensifying on Wednesday and pause midday Thursday. On
Thursday night the snow will return until Friday morning, the meteorology agency predicted.
Varying from district to district, snowfall is expected to be between 10 centimeters and 20 centimeters in Istanbul. On Wednesday, the highest temperature is expected to be 2 degrees Celsius and temperatures will fall below zero overnight.
The snowfall has been classed as a blizzard as a result of the accompanying strong winds, according to the meteorology agency.
