Turkey will see a new weather system of rain and low temperatures taking hold starting today, according to meteorology experts.
The country's interior is occasionally exposed to precipitation, but cold weather and more rainfall hailing from the Balkans will batter the entire country from Friday to Sunday.
Heavy rain will escalate to snowfall in southeastern and eastern Turkey on Friday and Saturday.
The Marmara region, where the largest city Istanbul is located, will be spared from rain on Saturday, while rain will bear down on the rest of the country.
Meteorologists warn that Istanbul will see rainfall on Friday evening and late Friday, and early Saturday may bring snowfall to higher parts of the city.
Cold and rainy weather will be gradually replaced with warmer weather on Monday, although another drop in temperatures is expected on Tuesday.
