Exitcom Recycling opened 12 years ago in the Kocaeli province as Turkey's first electronic waste recycling company and now contributes to Turkey's economy by recycling old electronic devices. Speaking to Anadolu Agency (AA), the company's General Manager Murat Ilgar said they recycle 95 percent of the electronic waste they receive. Apart from receiving electronic waste from Turkey, the company also welcomes old electronic devices from Germany, Saudi Arabia and Azerbaijan. The company receives 4,000 tons of electronic waste every year. Ilgar noted that Turkey produces 500,000 tons of electronic waste every year and only 25 percent of these devices can be collected for recycling. Ilgar said numerous phones which do not support the 4.5G technology will be discarded and that most of the electronic waste from Turkey consists of old televisions.
