The death toll in Izmir's bootleg alcohol poisoning case has increased to eight, Turkish health officials said on Monday.
The alcohol poisoning case was first reported in Turkey's Aegean coast on Nov. 23. Two more people died in hospitals on Monday, increasing the toll to eight, Turkish officials said.
Turkish police have arrested at least two people involved in the case.
Since Oct. 18, almost 100 people have been hospitalized for suspected alcohol poisoning in Istanbul. Health authorities in the province said that 26 people had died from illegally-brewed alcohol.
