One Turkish soldier has been killed, five others injured Wednesday after bombs planted beforehand on a road were detonated by PKK terrorists while a civilian vehicle carrying soldiers was passing by in the southeastern province of Mardin.
Suspected members of PKK terrorist organization detonated an improvised explosive device at 5.20 p.m. (1520GMT), the army said in a statement.
According to sources, the explosive was placed in a trashcan on the route of an army shuttle.
The PKK - considered a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and the EU - resumed its armed campaign in late July.
Since July, more than 180 members of the security forces have been martyred and over 1,700 PKK terrorists killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq, including airstrikes.
