Turkuvaz Media Group, a media conglomerate which includes Daily Sabah, signed a sponsorship deal with the Antalya Agency for the ongoing EXPO 2016. Along with Turkish Airlines (THY) and telecom operator Turkcell, Turkuvaz will be a main sponsor of the event in the southern city of Antalya. Important structures built for the expo will be named after the sponsors in the deal, which included Turkuvaz Media Group and other sponsors among the event's major ticket buyers as part of the deal.
Daily Sabah's sister newspaper, Sabah also offered its name to Peony Terrace under the deal. Peony is the symbol of the expo, and the terrace offers an exquisite view of light and water shows held in part of the six-month event. EXPO 2016, Turkey's first botanical expo, opened on April 23 under the theme "Flowers and Children." Around 8 million visitors are expected to attend the event, which will host more than 30 countries from the U.K. to South Korea.
The first expo hosted by Turkey in the 160-year history of the World Botanical EXPO will last from April to October, taking place on a sprawling 121-hectare exhibition site. EXPO 2016 features national and international events such as concerts, congresses and symposiums, dance shows, musicals, plays, workshops, street shows and special events for national holidays and the month of Ramadan.
