Presidential spokesperson İbrahim Kalın, who is known for his artistic skills beside his political and academic identity, sang a folk song to commemorate those killed in the brutal July 15 coup attempt. The musical arrangement of the song has been made by prominent Turkish musician Yavuz Bingöl and his team.
The video of the song has been released on popular video sharing platform YouTube late Monday and features images of July 15 martyrs.
It also features a number of symbols in the people's fight against the coup attempt by agents of the Gülenist terror-cult (FETÖ).
At the end of the video, images of the victims form the map of Turkey, symbolizing the nation's united fight against the ones trying to overthrow the democratically elected government.
The lyrics of the song entitled 'Melüllenme deli gönül' sang by İbrahim Kalın were written under the penname, Hatayi by Shah Ismail I, the founder of the Safavid dynasty.
Video recordings showing İbrahim Kalın playing the saz –a Turkish musical instrument- and singing had previously been seen on YouTube.
On July 15, a group of rogue soldiers associated with the Gülenist terror-cult (FETÖ) led by Fetullah Gülen attempted to overthrow the government in Turkey through a military takeover, killing over 240 people and injuring over 2,000.
People from all spheres united and took to the streets to protest the coup attempt, while political parties also joined forces to stand up against the military takeover by FETÖ.
