A commemoration ceremony to remember a Turkish guard, who died resisting a suicide attack on the U.S. Embassy in Ankara four years ago, was held at the embassy premises Wednesday.
Turkish security guard Mustafa Akarsu, the sole victim of the bombing, was remembered at the ceremony held near a fountain on the premises, dedicated to Akarsu's memory.
Among the attendants was American Ambassador John Bass, who laid flowers in memory of Akarsu, who has posthumously been awarded the "Thomas Jefferson Star for Foreign Service" by the White House for sacrificing his life to resist the attack carried out by a Revolutionary People's Liberation Party-Front (DHKP-C) militant.
