The Ministry of Education has initiated a comprehensive campaign for Syrian children sheltering in Turkey, allowing them to qualify for an internationally recognized vocational degree while earning money.
In a ministerial decree published in the Official Gazette, children will be able to obtain a vocational diploma after a four-year education, during which they will be insured and earn a stipend. After qualifying for a degree, they will also be allowed to open shops. The decree covers Turkish nationals as well. The degree will also include an internationally recognized Europass certificate.
The more than 1 million Syrian children will be covered by the compulsory education regulations. Children will also be covered by the national health insurance and earn TL 420 ($) a month, two-thirds of which will be given by the state.
Syrians aged 18 and over and hold a vocational training diploma from their home country, Syria, will be allowed to enroll in courses to study only the subjects that are necessary, before being awarded diplomas.
