A Turkish mountaineer nearly fell to his doom off a cliff at Mount Uludağ as a block of snow broke away from a cliff.
The nearly tragic moment was caught on Ismet Şentürk's helmet camera.
Şentürk — head of the Uludağ Mountaineering Club (ULUDAK) — said he experienced one of the most frightening moments of his life as he nearly fell off a 60-meter cliff.
"While hiking to the peak to join the team, I went too much toward the edge. As I stepped on the mass of snow I felt that it could not carry my weight, so I immediately jumped and leaned backward," Şentürk recalled the incident, adding that his behavior was "erroneous."
Located in northwestern Turkey's Bursa province, Uludağ is one of the most renowned and popular ski resorts in the country.
