French President Nicolas Sarkozy said on Friday Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi had to leave but cautioned against military action in the North African state.
"Mr Gaddafi must leave," Sarkozy told a news conference with his Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gül.
"Regarding a military intervention ... France would consider any initiative of this type with extreme caution and reserve," he said.
