2 men beat Muslim woman, call her 'terrorist' in Canada's Toronto city


Islamophobic attacks against Muslims in Canada have repeated for the second time in a week, when a Muslim woman was assaulted by two male suspects while trying to pick up her children from an elementary school in Toronto's North York district. Known to be one of the multicultural cities in the world, Toronto has witnessed a tragic incident when a Muslim woman, -who wore a headscarf- was beaten by two men, who pulled her headscarf, and stole her money and cell phone as she was picking up her children from Grenoble Public School around 3 pm. The men have reportedly told the woman to go back to her country and called her a terrorist.The woman was taken to a hospital to receive treatment and has reportedly been released. On November 14, a mosque located in a quiet residential area of Peterborough was deliberately set on fire following the deadly Paris terrorist attacks which killed over 129 people. Police have said that they are investigating the incident as a hate crime. On Tuesday, Justin Trudeau's newly elected Liberal government has withdrawn the Harper government's appeal to ban the niqab (face covering), citing Canada's commitment to embracing differences.Justin Trudeau had also expressed sadness over the mosque attack, saying he was 'deeply disturbed' by the incident, while pledging to protect Muslim worshippers and hold the perpetrators accountable for their crime.
