Two police officers in Seattle have been shot after they responded to a robbery, the city's police department stated on its Twitter account late Thursday.

"Two officers shot following police response to robbery near Madison/Western Ave. Please stay out of area as we investigate. Details to come," the department said.

"No information on condition of officers at this time. More details as they become available," Seattle PD added.
