Three law enforcement officers in California's Sacramento were shot on Wednesday and three suspects — two women and a man — were detained, local officials said.

The sheriff said that a deputy and two highway patrol officers were shot near Fulton Avenue and Auburn Boulevard during a vehicle theft investigation.

The officers have been transported to the hospital. Their conditions are currently unknown.

Locals have been warned to stay indoors and the area was cordoned off after the shooting.
