Over 2.700 Russia-linked accounts that sent 1.4 mn tweets about US elections suspended by Twitter

Social media giant Twitter told the U.S. Congress late Monday that it has suspended 2.752 accounts linked to Russian operatives, up from 201 tally it reported in September.

1.4 million automated tweets sent by Russia-linked accounts about the 2016 elections in the U.S. underperformed relative to their volume, the giant added.

Giving the account names to the U.S. congressional investigators, Twitter also added that the tweets amounted to 0.74 percent of all election tweets.
