The Tarabya Translation Prize was launched this year in cooperation of the Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry, German Foreign Affairs Ministry, Robert Bosch Stiftung, S. Fischer Stiftung and Goethe Institute. The prize is financed by the Turkish and German ministries. Iren and Cemal will be honored for all their translations. Michael Hess and Cemal Ener will receive runner-up prizes and Kaan H. Ökten will be granted a scholarship for his literary studies. The awards, to be handed out as part of Germany's Ernst Reuter Initiative for Cultural Dialogue, are aimed at encouraging the contribution made to intellectual and cultural relations by way of literary translation and at supporting the translation of more literary works. The awards, to be given annually, recognize the best literary works translated from German into Turkish and vice versa.CIHAN
