The Jewish culture promoted in Istanbul
A series of events in honor of the European Day of Jewish Culture were held yesterday in Istanbul’s Galata neighborhood, providing the Jewish community the opportunity to introduce and promote their traditions and cultural and historical legacies.
The event, aiming to introduce society to traditional Jewish traditions, music, arts and food was celebrated simultaneously in 30 countries around the world on Sunday October 7th.
On this special day, local residents and visitors from the community not only had the chance to see exhibitions, hear talks, participate in cooking classes and witness dance performances, but they also had the unique opportunity of touring synagogues, whose doors generally remain closed.
