Art-lovers flock to visit Contemporary Istanbul

In just two days, 28,000 people have come out to visit Turkey’s largest modern arts fair Contemporary Istanbul.



The seventh Contemporary Istanbul art fair opened its doors to visitors on November 22nd, bringing together art lovers and national and foreign collectors from some of the world's most respected international art galleries.

Held in an expansive 16,000 cubic square area in both the Lütfi Kırdar International Congress and Exhibition Hall as well as at the Istanbul Congress Center by main sponsors Akbank Private Banking as well as the joint sponsorship of Zorlu Center and Yıldız Holding; Contemporary Istanbul, continues to draw in intense interest by collectors and art-lovers.

The fair which hosts works from 102 national and international modern art galleries as well as by 612 artists, was visited by 28,000 Turkish and foreign visitors in just two days alone.

The most attention-drawing works on display in the fair include an Andy Warhol piece valued at two million dollars which is housed at the Cordeiros Gallery in Portugal, a 700,000 dollar painting by Botero from the Marlborough Gallery as well as a 650,000 euro piece by Yan Pei Ming on display by the Opera Gallery.
Participants in the fair which ran until November 25th included some of the world's leading art galleries, such as the Marlborough Gallery, Haunch of Venison, MaM-Mario and Mauroner Contemporary Art.
