Ankara's popular historical district Beypazarı is getting ready for the 22th International Beypazarı Festival, which runs from June 12 to 14. Visitors can treat themselves to a rich and entertaining program in the Ottoman-era tourist district, which is frequently referenced for its craftsmen's delicate iron, copper, leather, silver and silk work. The festival will host a camel train for the first time, which is scheduled to depart from Ankara and arrive in Beypazarı after a three-day journey. The camel train will use the Silk Road route and reach the district on the first day of the festival. A number of international folk dance groups will color the three-day event while creating a cultural mosaic. Throughout the festival, visitors will taste local cuisine unique to Turkey's different cities and enjoy themselves while learning about traditional Turkish art. Professional sportsmen will take part in the festival for the first time this year. The Turkish Wrestling Federation will hold oil wrestling competitions and the Mounted Archery Federation will host the javelin throw and mounted archery competitions. There will also be children's activities, stand up shows, animation teams and concert performances as seen in previous years. Tuncer Kaplan, the Mayor of the Beypazarı district, said more details about the festival program will be announced in the upcoming days. "Every year, we welcome thousands of visitors to the Beypazarı Festival, an important event that allows us to introduce our district's beauties and values," he said. The municipality is working hard to present a rich program. "Our district looks like an open-air museum and a vivid historical area. We invite everyone to see what we can offer them," Kaplan continued. The district of Beypazarı is worth a visit for its natural canyons, trekking and bicycle paths, untouched natural areas, forests and wild life, featuring deer, lynx and small vultures, whose migration route ends there.
