Demirer receives Best Actor prize at Kosovo theater fest


The TiyArtro Company, a Turkish theater company, represented Turkey at the seventh Kosovo International Theater Festival and staged Samuel Beckett's "Krapp's Last Tape." TiyArtro's actor Hilmi Demirer won Best Actor at the seventh Kosovo International MonoAKT Festival for the production of "Krapp's Last Tape." TiyArtro, the first multi-language and multicultural theater company in Turkey, premiered their first Kurdish stage production of "Krapp's Last Tape" at the 2014 Tbilisi International Theater Festival. TiyArtro was also invited to the International Theater Institute's 34th UNESCO World Congress and became the first international theater company to stage "Krapp's Last Tape" in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. The theater company also competed at the International Bitola Theater Festival in Macedonia. Produced and designed by Genco Demirer and directed by Emre Erdem, "Krapp's Last Tape" was staged at Istref Begolli Theater on June 18, as a part of the seventh Kosovo International Theater Festival. Translated into Kurdish by Hilmi Demirer, the play's music was composed by Kristopher Fischer, and choreography was designed by Gökmen Kasabalı. Tiyatro represented Turkey at the festival where prominent theater companies from Europe, the U.S., Russia and the Far East competed. Nina Manzur, Tetiana Kiktieva and Igballe Qena were among the festival's jury members.
