Turkey's first ice sculpture museum to open soon

Sculptor Serkan Kalkan has worked day and night for Turkey's first ice museum, which was recently established in Antalya Aquarium's Snow World Entertainment Center. Using his special tools, Kalkan designed a number of ice sculptures as well as a 2-meter ice pyramid. The walls of the museum are covered with an aquarium showing frozen fish. Kalkan made ice sculptures of the Temple of Apollo in Aydın, tombs of ancient Lycia, Saint Nicholas, Hadrian's Gate in Antalya, Abdal Musa, the ancient Greek town of Myra and Aspendos ruins and the myth of Bellerophon. Featuring different fish and crabs, the ice aquarium will obviously attract children. The lighting design placed in the ice sculptures brings a mystical atmosphere to the museum. Murat Selek, the manager of the entertainment center, said that the museum will be a first of its kind in Turkey. "We are excited to introduce a new kind of museum. While the temperature reaches 50 degrees Celsius in summer months in Antalya, we offer an ice museum to visitors, which shows our difference," he said. Selek said that the museum's temperature will be between minus 5 degrees Celsius to minus 15 degrees Celsius. Selek said that the ice sculpture museum will open for visits in a few weeks. The museum will present ice sculptures with colorful lighting background all year around.
