Kids both learn and enjoy art during recess

With the advent of the mid-semester break, children will have the chance to relax in a playful and educational pastime activity program, one offered by İş Sanat's artistic workshops, which will run until Feb. 7



Turkey's İş Bank Museum continues to bring color to the winter semester break for thousands of children, offering various workshops for entertainment and education this year. The workshops, held in the historical museum building in Istanbul's district of Eminönü, are intended for children, ages 4 to 12. The workshops, categorized under 10 main topics, will continue until Feb. 7. The Sandwich Painting Workshop, a 90-minute-long education workshop, will take place until Feb. 2 and will be free of charge. Intended for children ages 1 to 9, the workshop informs children about energy saving and offers children the chance to create glass sandwiches using a variety of materials.Geared toward children from ages 5 to 7, the Museum Memory Workshop takes children on a tour of the secret sections within the İş Bank Museum, with the guidance of instructors. Children will explore the history of banking as they learn about the items and equipment used in banking.Children who completed the "Connect the Lines Workshop" and the "Find the Pair Game" will leave the museum after an hour with new memories. These workshops will take place on Feb. 2, 3 and 6 and are free of charge.The Hidden Workshop - created upon the idea of "hiding the valuable things" - takes place inside bank safes. Children can discover hidden treasures, play with numbers, create bank safes with origami and review what they learned about banks through the "The Game of Associating." The workshop is for children ages 10 to 12. Children can also star in creative stage plays and write their own stories in the Creative Writing Workshop which will take place on Feb. 4. Children between the ages of 9 and 12 will enjoy themselves during this 90-minute workshop and create original pieces in various disciplines such as painting, music, writing and drama.Children between the ages 4 and 7 are expected to play games and stage short sketches in Creative Drama and Reading Workshops. Children will widen their perspectives and question the things that they read by using various images and materials such as short-stories, fairy tales, painting and photograph. These entertaining and educational workshops will take place on Jan. 31 and Feb. 5.On Feb. 7, children will have a chance to read a book on the Hittites, who established one of the most important civilizations in the world in the lands of Anatolia, accompanied by the author of the book. They will also have a chance to chat with the author and complete the workshop after drawing a painting about the scene that affected them the most in the book. The workshop is free of charge but children are expected to attend with the book that will be read during the workshop.The Currency of the World Workshop aims to teach children between the ages of eight and 10 all about Turkish currency and other world currencies from around the world through entertaining games. As a part of the workshop which will take place on Jan. 31 and Feb. 7, children will watch a 3-D film on the history of currency and play a "money matching" game. Children between the ages 10 and 12 will discover how prices are determined and how the law of supply and demand works, through a series of entertaining and active events at the Price Discovery Laboratory Workshop. The workshop, which will take place on Jan. 29, aims to raise awareness about the economy among children.The Budget Saving Workshop is aimed for children between the ages of eight and 13 and offers a story-telling activity following a tour of the museum. The 120-minute workshop will feature a math competition, the examination of old calculating machines and the designing of a money box. The workshop takes place until Jan. 30 and the attendance is TL 20 for each children. Children can also enter the world of software by learning how to write in code. The workshop, aiming to encourage children to learn computer programming, allows children to design their own money boxes on computers and realize their dreams. The workshop which will take place on Jan. 28 is aimed for children between the ages 7 and 12.
