Pera Museum collaborates with Wikipedia for artistic content writing

Pera Museum and the Wikimedia Community User Group Turkey (WMTR) are collaborating with Wikipedia, the most comprehensive international web encyclopedia, for a new digital project. As a part of the WikiPera project, which will be initiated for the first time in Turkey, participants will create distinguished and high-toned contents about the artwork in the Pera Museum's collection exhibition "Intersecting Worlds: Ambassadors and Painters," aiming to encourage people to contribute to the art project. Similar projects are also carried out by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the British Museum in London and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. To take part in the competition, all authors have to sign up for Wikipedia. Following the registration, the participants will be able to create content via the official page of the project by clicking the link http://bit.ly/2920Gnh. Moreover, the Pera Museum will offer humble gifts to everybody who contributes to the project by creating content that is "well-written, comprehensive, correct, unbiased and lasting," according to Wikipedia criteria. The first five participants who make the most contribution will be awarded by the Pera Museum exclusively.Once the WikiPera Project is over, the Wikipedia contents of the artworks featured at the "Intersecting Worlds: Ambassadors and Painters" exhibition will be accessed with QR codes. The visitors will be able to scan the codes via their smart phones and read the contents, being able to access the most correct and unbiased information about the artworks. The project will be officially launched in August after the winners are announced. The first GLAM Project of Turkey, WikiPera, is a part of GLAM-WIKI projects carried about by Wikimedia Community User Group Turkey.
