New Istanbul souvenirs created in workshops expand Turkey's industrial design industry


The souvenir brand that produces replicas of Istanbul souvenirs and historical artifacts, Hediyem Istanbul, is affiliated with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) cultural enterprise Kültür A.Ş. and offers a sneak peek into the 22 prototypes it has to offer in the new season.The new souvenir designs have been developed by the İBB Kültür A.Ş. Hediyem Istanbul Designing and Modeling Workshop, which was founded as part of the Istanbul Development Agency's "Financial Support Program of Industrial Development" program. The prototypes will be on display at the Kültür A.Ş. Exhibition Hall in the Istanbul Kitapçısı store located inside the Taksim metro station today at 2:00 p.m. Here, the winners of the İBB Kültür A.Ş. Hediyem Istanbul Designing and Modeling Workshop souvenir-making competition as well as the winners of the "Istanbul-themed Wooden Toy Design" competition will be announced during an opening ceremony. The İBB Kültür A.Ş. Hediyem Istanbul Designing and Modeling Workshop became fully operational in September 2015 and was founded on a 120-square-meter area in the Topkapı district of Istanbul with a budget of TL 727.81 million ($246.28 million).The workshop employs four industrial designers and one project assistant and the workshop tools available here include a CNC Laser, 3-D printer and various other model workshop tools. In efforts to satisfy the creative needs of designers and bring original ideas to life, two competitions titled, "Carry Istanbul with You" and "Istanbul-Themed Wooden Toy Design" were held and three workshops took place for the development of new ideas. The establishment the workshops has contributed to the diversification of Hediyem Istanbul portfolio, established continuity for the brand and provides opportunities for recognition of Istanbul on the global scale while furthering the development of Istanbul's design industry.The closing ceremony of the İBB Kültür A.Ş. Hediyem Istanbul Designing and Modeling Workshop will be held on Sept. 4. The prototypes of new souvenirs will also be on display at the Kültür A.Ş. Exhibition Hall in the Taksim metro station until the closing ceremony.
