Turkey joins Italian Design Day for love of architecture

Italian design has distinguished itself worldwide with its creativity and top-quality materials as well as its authenticity. Tomorrow, "Italian Design Day" will be marked with exhibitions, panel sessions and discussions in 100 cities including the Turkish capital of Ankara.Initiated by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this occasion will be marked through events organized by embassies, consulates and Italian cultural institutes around the world. Many acclaimed Italian designers will introduce the concept of excellence in Italian design during the day.With the initiatives of the Italian Embassy and Bilkent University in Ankara, a conference session by architect Marco Paolo Servalli will be delivered at the university's faculty of architecture. A specialist in the field of building restoration and project management, Servalli has also been producing significant architectural projects focusing on restoration and redevelopment since 1993. He will be delivering a conference on "The Italian Pavilion in Antalya: An experience of mutual design influences between Italy and Turkey, and other Italian projects" on Thursday.The Italian Embassy will also be holding a reception on Italian design on the same day. An installation introducing the best examples of Italy's interior architecture will be presented to guests at the reception. Additionally, exclusive home and office furniture by Italian designers will also be showcased. Some of the designs at the upcoming reception will include the "Arco lambader" designed by Achille & Pier Giacomo Castiglioni in 1962, the 1969 design "Serie Up" seat by Gaetano Pesce and the "Cicognino side table" designed by Franco Albini in 1953.
