Games and art intertwine at innovative exhibition space

Digi.logue's new series 'Everything,' created by world-renowned movie producer and game programmer David O'Reilly is open to visitors at Istanbul's Zorlu Center

Created by Zorlu Holding and the Zorlu Performance Art Center (PSM) to support digital transformation, Digi.logue, one of the most crucial concepts today, has been hosting a new exhibition since May 11, which can be visited until July 3. The new exhibition at Zorlu PSM's Digi.logue space, is named after David O'Reilly's PlayStation game "Everything," created by the 31-year-old who won numerous awards at a young age.

The exhibition "Everything," which is narrated by the inspiring philosophy of Alan Watts, one of the leading philosophers in the world, and written by David O'Reilly, also hosts a selection that includes "Please Say Something" and "The External World," which won the artist many prizes and was displayed at the Venice Biennale and Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). In addition, a short part of "Her," the widely discussed movie directed by Spike Jonze with animation direction carried out by O'Reilly will be featured. Visitors will also get to play "Everything," the latest video game of the artists which has been deemed as one of the most must-be-experienced games of 2017 at specially designed spaces throughout the exhibition location, "Space."

The game, which has drawn a great deal of attention from the whole world since its first release in March 2017, offers players the chance to experience a universe through natural simulation methods. Another distinctive characteristic of "Everything" is its progress in a never-ending documentary film style between the universe and men. The players can select to become more than 3,000 animate or inanimate objects ranging from animals to planets and men to galaxies, as the name suggests. Yet, the game offers an outstanding change that's not common in the gaming world: An experience where players are only tied to the limits of their own imagination without any obligatory tasks or duties assigned to them while traveling through different worlds, spaces, and the built worlds within worlds.

Born in Ireland in 1985 and living currently in Los Angeles, David O' Reilly, a movie maker and a game programmer is known for his unique 3D animation movies. His first video was for the single of famous Irish band U2's "I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight" back in 2009 and O'Reilly won the Golden Bear award for his short-movie "Please Say Something" at the 2009 International Berlin Film Festival. "Please Say Something" was also awarded with the Best Short Animation award at the Ottawa International Animation Film Festival that takes place in the Canadian capital. His second short movie, "External World," became another success story receiving an award at the 67th Venice Film Festival.

O'Reilly acted as the animation director of "Her," which was directed by talented director Spike Jonze in 2013. Inspired by this work, he created the "Mountain" video game. On the other hand, with "Everything" out in 2017, David O'Reilly offers us the chance to experience the latest version of gaming along with a unique experience.

The exhibition "Everything," inspired by O'Reilly's game of the same name, can be visited at the Digi.logue space in Zorlu PSM until Monday, July 3.
