Panel focuses on girls' science education


The new generation life center Grand Pera, which serves as a center for culture, arts, entertainment, fashion and gastronomy, is hosting a panel, "Girls in Stem", on Saturday, June 10. Nobel laureate professor Aziz Sancar, who is an expert in biochemistry and molecular chemistry, is hosting the panel "Encouraging Girls for STEM Education for a Sustainable Development" at Grand Pera from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. STEM, meaning science, technology, engineering and mathematics, emphasizes the importance of science education for children.

Girls in Stem's (GIM) objectives are to increase the awareness of sixth grade students about global education and science and help them better understand cultural diversity, draw the attention of female students to STEM education, assist in integration of Syrian refugee female students into Turkish society and create the feeling that they can continue their education, ensure that girls can witness improvements regarding STEM in different countries and thus get to know different cultures, enhance girls' curiosity and daily application of STEM education, support students enjoy and gain confidence in mathematics and science and encourage girls to be involved in teamwork at early ages.
