Milas supplies marble for Rihanna statue


A statue of world-famous Barbadian singer Rihanna will be made from a special marble from the Kalınağıl neighborhood.

A special marble from Kalınağıl was sent for the full-size statue of Rihanna.

This particular type of marble is being used because of its similarity to the color of Rihanna skin.

The search that was started in different places of the world ended with the marble called Rosso Laguna Aegean Maroon, which is found in the Kalınağıl neighborhood of Milas, which is known for the maroon marble.

Speking to İHA, company officials providing the marble for the statue to the unnamed sculptor said: "Marble in that color is rarely seen, but it is found in Milas. It is a chance for our country. The marble was provided from the mines in Milas and sent according to the sizes required. Using our marble for the statue of a world-famous singer promotes our region. Therefore, we are happy."
