Fundraiser for underprivileged children

The Açıkkapı Social Responsibility Association added new projects to its repertoire that aim to provide a fair start to children deprived of basic and social rights by overcoming their physical, social and mental problems.

Hosted by Dolapdere Dirimat Gallery, the association is holding a joyous night today at 8 p.m., where 100 prominent guests from the social and art life will participate.

The fundraiser is aimed to create an opportunity for deprived children with the donations that will be collected, with the participation of German painting artist Franz Ackerman.

The Açıkkapı Social Responsibility Association was initiated by the gathering of its founding members as volunteers for children aged 12 and under in the Bahçelievler Child Protection Agency in 2005. The association gained its corporate identity in 2006.

Berlin-based Franz Ackermann has produced paintings and installations devoted to revealing the different aspects of tourism around the themes of globalization and urban life.

In his first big series "Mental Maps," the artist made little watercolor paintings combining the reality of street maps together with his own comments on the cities where he has been. He has designed many large-scale dynamic installations from paintings, photographs, drawings on walls, sculptures and structures looking like advertising boards.
