‘Carmen' week at Antalya State Opera and Ballet


The Antalya State Opera and Ballet (DOB) will stage the famous opera Carmen by French composer Bizet for the season for the first time on Sept. 28.

Written by Libretto Ludovic Hallevy-Henri Meilhac and put on the stage by Evin Atik, the work tells of the end of an ambitious love between naive soldier Don Jose and gypsy Carmen with a murder.The work has the Antalya DOB orchestra being conducted by Alexandru Samuil, while the Antalya DOB choir is conducted by Mahir Seyrek, and the Antalya DOB children's choir is conducted by Esra Serbest. The scenery is prepared by Çağda Çitkaya, and the costume designer is Alev Tol, while the spotlights are prepared by Müfit Özbek and the choreography done by Mehmet Sipahi.

In the staging of the work on Thursday, Medine Tuganova will take on the role of Carmen and Koray Damcıoğlu will play Don Jose. The other roles are Arda Aktar as Escamillo, Nurdan Küçükekmekçi as Micaela, Taner Ölçen as Zuniga, Onur Alpaslan as Morales, Serap Demirhan Işık as Frasquita, Seçil Eyilikeder as Mercedes, Selahattin Denizsümüren as Lillas Pastia, Ümit Burak Tekinay as Le Dancairo and Devrim Demirel as Le Remendado.
