Exhibition unites modern art of illumination with fashion


The 7 Art Gallery in Istanbul is hosting an innovative exhibition that opened on Sept. 13. The "Sessizlik Kırmak" ("Breaking the Silence") exhibition combines traditional and modern aspects of art of illumination with fashion, and is aiming to introduce a new fashion trend to art lovers by reflecting one of the oldest forms of art on clothes.

Starting her professional career with fashion, Ensieh Najarian's first exhibition is meeting with art lovers in Istanbul and aims to start a new movement in art and fashion. Najarian's works consist of prints of examples of illumination on fabric and the artist uses both traditional and modern designs and expresses her technique as a combination of illumination and fashion. Works at the exhibition highlight freedom and liberation with colors and motifs, combining traces from old and more recent times together takes us on a meaningful journey in the history of modern illumination.

The exhibition to take place until Sept. 20 can be visited between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. at 7 Art Gallery in Beyoğlu.

Ensieh Najarian was born in 1982 in Hamedan, Iran. She has been interested in art since childhood and participated in many contests throughout life in her native town. She was accepted to university in 2001 and graduated from Tehran University with an undergraduate degree and then learned the art of miniatures (traditional Iranian painting). Now, she is trying out a new style by combining the traditional with modern art.

The artist won awards at the 5th International Fajr Visual Arts Festival in 2013, 3rd Tolo Khordad Visual Arts Festival in 2015 and at 14th İmam Reza Festival of Visual Arts in 2016.
