Edirne's Church of Sveti Georgi hosts art exhibition

An international group exhibition titled "The Art of Being Human" has opened at the Church of Sveti Georgi, in Kıyık, Edirne.

Organized by Trakya University (TU) Faculty of Fine Arts and the Bulgarian Consulate in Edirne, the exhibition showcases paintings and sculptures by a number of academics and students.

Speaking at the opening of the exhibition, Bulgarian academic at TU's Fine Arts Faculty, professor Velislav Minekov said international art knows no bounds and it is accessible any time.

He noted that the exhibition is universal and added: "It is a beautiful exhibition. The works of our teachers and students are being displayed here. We can see the uniting power of art. Art has no limits. The aim of this exhibition is to contribute to the collaboration and works between the countries. I want to express my thanks to those who contributed to the preparation of the exhibition."

TU Fine Arts Faculty member Ersan Sarıkaya said art is the common language of humanity.

He added that the exhibition abstractly reflects different perspectives. "Art is always a common language. It is a tool that makes a connection between people without speaking. The exhibition will contribute to the brotherly relation between Bulgaria and Turkey. Professor Minekov has made important contributions to the exhibition. There are both sculptures and paintings in this exhibition. You can see everything about art. This beautiful location only adds to its beauty."
