A Turkish aid agency has dispatched humanitarian aid to Rohingya Muslims following the reports of mass civilian casualties and displacements in Myanmar's Rakhine state. The Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH) distributed food packages among 300 families. It also sent tents for 200 families and kitchen materials (plates, glasses, pots and buckets) for another 200 families, according to a statement by the foundation. The IHH teams have also prepared more food packages and other stuffs for 200 more affected families.

Speaking at the Victory Day evening reception at the Beştepe Presidential Palace in Ankara on Wednesday, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan underlined that Turkey would not leave the oppressed Rohingya Muslims alone in the ongoing crisis in Myanmar. In his speech, Erdoğan also stressed the importance of the fight against terrorism, hinting that any political and military option would be considered regarding the developments in the region.

Turkey has urged all countries to stand up for Rohingyas, who face persecution and displacement by Myanmar security forces. Turkey opened its embassy in Myanmar in 2012, shortly before a visit by Turkish leaders to the country and repeatedly raised concerns about the Myanmar government's treatment of Muslims.
