Goethe Institute to display best 25 German books in Istanbul

In honor of the 52nd Library Week, Goethe-Institut Istanbul will exhibit the "Best German Book Design 2015" collection in collaboration with the German Book Art Foundation. According to the written statement released from Goethe-Institut Istanbul, the collection "Best German Book Design 2015" is the fruit of a rooted and important traditional competition in Germany which is hosted every year by the German Book Art Foundation.Through this competition, the foundation intends to draw attention to the 25 best book covers and their designs by bringing book design and the high quality of its publishing to the forefront, rather than the content. The competition welcomes all publishing houses from around the world including German publishers. However, books from foreign publishing houses should be produced in Germany. "Best German Book Design 2015" collection is composed of examples of books which stand out with their design, concept and craftsmanship.Among the 756 books submitted to the competition, two expert juries chose five books for five different sections, including "General Literature," "Scientific Books," "School Books," "Books on Education," "Guidance Books and Research-Study Books," "Art and Photography Books," "Exhibition Catalogues" and "Books Intended for Children and Adolescents." Before being exhibited at Goethe-Institut Istanbul, the "Best German Book Design" collection was showcased at the TÜYAP Book Fair 2015's Frankfurt Book Fair stand, which took place last November in Istanbul. The exhibition will run between March 30 and April 2.
