Çağlayan recently mentioned that during his meeting with Lagarde last week, she said to him, "You do not need us, but we need you. If you continue on this path then we will become unemployed."

Çağlayan stated, "Without IMF support and instead of holding on to the IMF anchor, we held on to Turkey's anchor and wrote history."

Noting that they are determined to solve the issue of the current account deficit, Çağlayan states, "The export figures we track daily and our export connections are a clear indicator that in 2012 we will break a record in the history of the Turkish Republic. In my opinion Turkey will see growth of five percent."
