Istanbul Stock Exchange sets new record high

The Istanbul Stock Exchange hit a historic high yesterday closing at 71.716 points.



The Istanbul Stock Exchange (İMKB in Turkish) 100 index hit a historic high at 71,716.91 points, a 1,008.50 point rise from the day prior. The previous record was set on November 9th, 2010 when the ISE closed at 71,543 points.

While on average stocks in the ISE gained 1.43 percent in value, the total trading volume was 1.5 billion euros.By the close of the second session, the ISE 100 had gained 650.16 points and 0.91 percent in value.

Even if Moody's assessment regarding a credit rating upgrade may have been perceived negatively initially, the perpetuation of the optimistic air in Europe contributed to the ISE's record breaking close.
