Istanbul, the Capital of Money project to bolster city as trade center

İbrahim Çağlar, the head of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (İTO), introduced the chamber's "İTO 2015 Global Vision / Istanbul, the Capital of Money" project yesterday, which includes seven major projects under the title of the "2015 Global Vision Study." According to Çağlar, they were inspired by the seven hills of Istanbul while setting the seven-topic project, which aims to enhance the added value and wealth that flow into Istanbul from the rest of the world. All seven projects have different logos and identities. The first project, "Istanbul Commercial Cities Platform," aims to form a common platform that will bring together the commerce chambers of 20 target cities in an attempt to encourage businessmen to invest in Istanbul. Thus, 3.5 million businessmen from 20 foreign chambers will be brought together with İTO's 356,000 members. Within the framework of the project, a network will be formed to allow the sharing of data and experiences between foreign chambers and İTO's members. To this end, every year, "Commerce Chambers' Summit" will be held to address the problems of the global economy. Other relevant panels will be simultaneously organized with 2015 global vision projects to share experiences. A website, which will allow sharing experiences in purchases, tenders and trading data, will be set up. Thus, the attraction of foreign media and international investors will be drawn to Istanbul. The second project is "Istanbul, the City of Investment," which includes studies that will encourage investment in Istanbul. The project aims to attract domestic and foreign investors to business ideas of the future. With this objective, "İTO Global Entrepreneurship Center" will be established, the commercial vision visits will be paid to the most advanced economies and the İTO Investment Center will be opened at the Istanbul Finance Center. Istanbul will be introduced to major metropolises of the world at certain intervals. The third project is "Istanbul, the City of Fair and Congress." As a part of the project, a groundbreaking ceremony will be held for the second phase of the fair center of the Istanbul World Trade Center to increase its size to 250,000 square meters. It is also on the agenda to construct a 500-square meter fairground at Istanbul's third airport. This expansion would also help bring the mobile world fair, which is the most important fair in the world, to İstanbul, as it was previously not possible due to the lack of space. The fourth project is "Istanbul Shopping Fest" (ISF), which would make Istanbul one of the most important shopping spots in the world, in the eyes of many foreign shoppers. This would popularize the idea that "this is the best time to go to Istanbul" among the target audience. Thus, the number of tourists visiting Istanbul will increase during the time of shopping fest. The fifth project is "Meetings of Managers of Money," which aims to bring together İTO members with opinion leaders who have a say in the world economy. It also intends to bring İTO members together with prominent visitors who will come to Turkey as a part of B20 and G20 meetings. A wide range of meetings with the world's leading bankers and financiers will be held in addition to "Emerging Financial Centers Index" study. During these summits, media members will have exclusive interviews with prominent visitors. The sixth project aims to invigorate the social life around İTO headquarters in the neighborhoods of Sirkeci and Eminönü with a new landscape plan. The SME Development and Support Center will be established within İTO to allow Turkish SMEs to open up to the world. The seventh project is the Istanbul Strategy and Action Plan, which sets the vision and goals for Turkish trade for 2023. The project, which is in line with the government's objectives for 2023, aims to function as the most important source and guiding spirit of the Turkish economy. The action plan involves the analysis of the commercial and economic situation, determining a road map for economy and commerce and analysis of rival cities and countries as well as analyzing the successful economic practices in the world. İTO will not make budget restriction to finance the project and will work together with TOBB on international projects.
