Turkish-German airline takes first of 50 Boeing jets

The Turkish-German airline company SunExpress received the first plane of a 50-strong Boeing fleet it ordered in 2014. The Antalya-based company said in a statement that the first aircraft of the 50-plane order arrived in Antalya on Sunday. SunExpress reached a $4.75 billion agreement with Boeing last year and ordered 50 new generation Boeing 737-800 NG and Boeing 737-8 Max aircraft. The SunExpress statement said the company will receive five planes in 2015. All 50 Boeing planes, which burn less fuel, produce lower emissions and less noise, will be delivered to SunExpress by 2021. SunExpress, founded in October 1989 as a subsidiary of two industry-leading airlines, Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa, carries around 7 million passengers per year and has a fleet of 59 aircraft.
