Ramadan pide prices to be same as last year

The price of 350 grams of traditional Ramadan bread called 'pide' in Istanbul will be sold from TL 1.80 ($0.66) during Islam's holy month. The presidents of the Istanbul Chamber of Bakers and the Istanbul Esnaf ve Sanatkarlar Odaları Birliği (ISTESOB) made separate statements following the so-called invisible price increase controversy, stressing all bakeries affiliated with their organizations are liable for setting the pre-set prices. The firms that are affiliated with the Chamber of Commerce, however can set their own prices.ISTESOB President Fahri Özer said there has been no price increase for Ramadan pide, but any increases in the price are due to the greater weight in grams. Istanbul Chamber of Bakers President Fahri Yılmaz argued a Ramadan pide should be more than 300 grams, otherwise it is too small.
