Tüpraş Turkey's largest industrial enterprise


The Istanbul Chamber of Industry (ISO) announced Turkey's largest 500 industrial enterprises, with Tüpraş toping the list once again with sales totaling TL 37.5 billion ($13.71 billion). It was followed by Ford Otomotiv with TL 10.5 billion, Oyak-Renault with TL 8.77 billion and Arçelik with TL 8.52 billion. Elektrik Üretim A.Ş. was on the list and was the only public enterprise to enter the top 10. A total of 52 new enterprises made the list in 2014. While 40 of those were on the list of the second-largest 500 industrial enterprises of ISO the previous year, 12 enterprises were able to enter the top 500 list directly out of the ISO's largest 1,000 industrial enterprises.According to the ISO, the enterprise producing the highest added value in terms of producer prices in 2014 was Tüpraş. A total of 15.3 percent of all added value produced by the top 500 industrial enterprises was produced by Tüpraş alone during this period. While the second enterprise wished to remain undisclosed, the third highest added value company was Japan Tobacco International with a total added value of TL 6.81 billion.Ereğli Demir Çelik became the enterprise generating the highest profit in 2014 with TL 1.81 billion while İskenderun Demir ve Çelik had the second-highest profit with TL 1.14 billion. It was followed by Eti Maden İşletmeleri, Türkiye Petrolleri Anonim Ortaklığı and Mercedes-Benz Türk A.Ş. Of the highest profit-makers in 2014, eight of the enterprises are private and two are public.Tüpraş, Turkey's largest company, protected its rank in terms of exports as well and topped the list with TL 3.72 billion. It was followed by Ford Otomotiv and Oyak Renault with exports valued at TL 3.46 billion and TL 3.2 billion, respectively. There was one public and nine private enterprises on the list of the top 10 exporting enterprises. The combined amount of exports shipped by the top 10 enterprises totaled TL 20.4 billion while the top 500 enterprises' exports totaled TL 61.3 billion. The export share of the top 10 companies in the top 500 was 33.3 percent and their share of Turkey's total exports was 13 percent.
