Installment terms for education to be increased in Turkey

Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK) Chair Mehmet Ali Akben said the Financial Stability Board decided to increase the number of payments available for credit card installments on education, furniture and home appliances to 12 months from nine months. The board also removed the time limit on the payments of loans granted for educational use. Speaking to Anadolu Agency (AA), Akben also said bank credits that are limited to a 36-month repayment term will not have a certain limit and will depend on the education term. Akben stressed that these credits already have a one- or two-year grace period, adding: "Turkey suffers from a shortage of pilots due to the high cost of civil aviation training in the country and hires foreign pilots instead. As we want to contribute to increasing the number of Turkish pilots, we decided to remove the time limitations on the payment of loans granted for educational use."
