Science, Industry and Technology Minister Fikri Işık said American aircraft producer Boeing had agreed to work together with Turkey to ensure more Turkish firms would participate in Boeing's supply chain.During his visit to the U.S., Işık visited Boeing corporate headquarters in Chicago to meet with executives. Following the meeting, Işık told Anadolu Agency that they had discussed joint works in the topics of testing, standardizing and certification. Turkey and Boeing agreed to carry out joint research and development works.

Boeing, known as the world's largest aircraft manufacturer, was established in Seattle, Washington in 1916. One of the world's leading aerospace companies, Boeing designs and manufactures helicopters, missiles, satellites, launch vehicles, electronics as well as defense systems, advanced information and communication systems. Boeing is one of NASA's service providers and works as the prime contractor for the International Space Station. Boeing employs 168,000 people in more than 65 countries including the U.S., and provides products and support services to customers in 150 countries. Turkey's relations with Boeing started in 1940.
