Turkish firms to operate airport in Senegalese capital


Turkish construction firms Limak and Summa together won a "build-operate-transfer" tender to complete the construction work and operate the International Blaise-Diagne (AIBD), located in Dakar, the capital of Senegal. According to an announcement published by Limak, it is estimated that the completion of the construction of the AIBD Airport will cost 466 million euros.Currently, 70 percent of the airport has been finished. The construction of the airport is expected to be finished in eight months. The operation of the airport will be shared by Limak and Summa for the next 25 years, before the Senegalese state takes full ownership.The announcement notes that Dakar airport, which saw 2 million passengers in 2015, is expected to increase traffic to five million a year. Limak, which carries out construction projects in many countries, is also taking part in the construction of Istanbul's third airport through the Cengiz-Kolin-Limak-Mapa-Kalyon Consortium, a joint venture of Turkish companies.
