Turkey's TİKA launches projects to support development in Kenya

The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) added a new project to its ongoing work in Africa. During President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's official visit to Kenya on Thursday, the agency provided new devices to support the Kenyan agriculture sector. The project, overseen by Erdoğan, was to support Kenya's agriculture with 12 tractors, one ambulance and support equipment.Within the framework of the 2030 vision prepared by the Kenyan government, which outlines the country's primary economic and social development strategies, two tractors and support equipment, including plows, trailers and disc harrows, were donated to each state with similar geographic, demographic, economic, social and cultural characteristics, including Lamu, Tana River, Garissa, Mandera, Isiolo and Wajir. The aim of the project is to foster sustainable agricultural development and food security in regions with important agricultural potential and fertile lands in Kenya. Erdoğan mentioned TİKA's work in Kenya during a press conference he held yesterday with his Kenyan counterpart, Uhuru Kenyatta. He said the agency will work in the areas of education, health care, rural development and employment of youth and women to contribute Kenya's development plans. Erdoğan stressed that Turkey will continue to extend a helping hand to the Kenyan people like it did during a flood experienced in Kajiado two weeks ago.
