Osman Gazi Bridge toll discounted before opening


Before the opening of Osman Gazi Bridge, also known as the İzmit Bay Bridge, a discount will be made for the expected vehicle toll for using the bridge. Works are in progress for passage to be free of charge on the bridge during the upcoming Ramadan holiday, which will start on June 30. The toll on the Osman Gazi Bridge will be reduced from TL 121 ($41) to TL 90.According to Habertürk daily, the calculations to drop the $35 + VAT toll on the Osman Gazi Bridge are nearly completed. Osman Gazi Bridge is the most important section of the Gebze Orhangazi-İzmir Highway Project, which will reduce duration of travel between Istanbul and İzmir from nine hours to three-and-a-half hours, shortening the period by five-and-a-half hours. The bridge toll will be reduced by 25 percent and following this arrangement, the toll will drop to TL 90-91.Meanwhile, works are in progress for the passage to be free of charge on the bridge during the upcoming nine-day Ramadan holiday at the end of June, Habertürk reports. The bridge, which will have the world's fourth largest main span, will be opened with a ceremony to be attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım on June 30. It will only take four minutes to pass through the Gulf of İzmit thanks to this bridge.
