TRJet progresses on National Regional Aircraft
TRJet announced its major supplier partners for the National Regional Aircraft Project and its latest developments that will boost the success of the project during the Farnborough Airshow. In addition to contributing to the project, the developments will also make a contribution to the growth of the Turkish aviation sector.
TRJEt and Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) are signing initial agreements to support the long-awaited National Regional Aircraft Project. With TAI's experiences and achievements in supplying and producing original aerospace equipment, TRJet will support the development of TRJ328 and new larger aircrafts. The two companies are also addressing how TAI can use its design skills in new and larger domestically designed aircrafts in the best way.
Additionally, the project has signed many other agreements, with one of them being on the use of the world-renowned PW127 new turboprop engine in TRJet's new TRP328 turboprop aircraft with Pratt & Whitney Canada Corp. (P&WC). The TRP328 aircraft will increase its take-off weight at the maximum level without compromising its performance thanks to the versatility of the PW127 turboprop engine. PW127 is a part of the environment-friendly PW100 engine family, which is developed for the effective use of fuel in the regional airline market.
The new engine program for TRP328 will be developed at P&WC facilities in Longueuil, Quebec, Canada at the end of 2016. The production schedule will be completed with the first TRP328 flight in 2019-2020. TRP328 and its sister design TRJ328 aircrafts will be produced during the start-up process of the project. The project includes plans about a larger and aircraft which will have a brand-new design. The first flight of this aircraft is aimed to be done before the 100th anniversary of the foundation of Turkish Republic in 2023.
The first order for the TRJet has been made by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO), which has asked to purchase 10 TRJ328-type aircrafts with 32 seats. ITO signed a letter of goodwill with TRJet at the Farnborough Airshow in the U.K. TRJet has also held negotiations with various ministries and nongovernmental organizations and the police to receive advance orders.
