THY names aircraft after district that repelled coup


Turkish Airlines (THY) has plans to immortalize the names of key districts across Turkey where brave citizens heroically repelled the bloody coup attempt on July 15, giving the district names of Beştepe, Saraçhane, Çengelköy, Kavacık, Kazan, Acıbadem, Atışalanı and Gölbaşı to a fleet of eight aircraft.The eight THY aircraft will be named for the districts where the most intense struggle and noteworthy victory was obtained during the July 15 failed coup attempt, which has since been linked to the Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ).The national airline will honor the Turkish people's national victory with the fleet under the leadership of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.According to a written statement from the Department of THY Press, THY will give the names of the aforementioned districts to eight of its aircraft to carry on the spirit of unity in the wake of the July 15 failed coup attempt."THY, reinforcing its leading position and prominence in the global aviation industry, aims to continue to be a source of pride for its nation in the international arena and continues to serve its country in the best way possible," a THY spokesperson said in a statement.
